How to check the high-voltage battery of a BMW or MINI
On a plug-in hybrid or electric car, the high-voltage battery is one of the most expensive parts. Its state of health shows how much of its original capacity is left.
What state of health means
State of health compares the battery’s usable capacity today with its capacity when new. A lower value means less electric range.
Why cell balance matters
The battery is made of many cells. When their voltages drift apart, the weakest cell can limit the whole pack.
